The Site of the Former Noborizō Weir (登象の堰跡)

There is a square frame inscribed on the revetment walls of Sennokawa (千ノ川), a river flowing through ChigasakiKanagawa Prefecture, near the Tohama Bridge (とはま人道橋).  This is a monument indicating where the Noborizo Weir (登象の堰) once stood.

The weir was built in the early days of the Showa period to divert water into the rice fields that extended up to Tsurumine Hachimangu.  It also served as a bridge for locals to cross over the river.

Above the monument, a sign displays photos of the weir in 1946, the remnants of the weir before the revetment construction in 2007, and the monument itself.
